On Terrorism

22.3.2016 – , Viisaampi blogi, 0

Today I was going to write about racism. Instead, after Brussels, I'm going to say a few words about terrorism. I'll try to be as brief as possible.

First off, I’m sending love to Brussels, and everyone in the world who has ever suffered from terrorist violence. You are all feeling the same pain, the same terror, the same despair, and I can’t begin to fathom what it feels like.

Already, some European leaders have stated that this has been an attack on Europe. To me, that’s healing wounds with salt. That’s putting out fires with gasoline. No. This has been a global fundamentalism’s attack on reasoning.

What do they want?

What do the terrorists that call themselves islamic, want? What do they want?

That is obvious. They want the exact same thing as anti-islamists:

A global consensus that muslims and non-muslims can not live peacefully together.

Every time someone accepts this madman’s notion as a fact, ISIS/Da’ish cheers, as do the extreme anti-islamists. With their burning hatred on each other, the fact that they have the same primary goal is so terrifyingly, depressingly ironic, there’s no words to describe it.

What do we need?

We need all the reasonable people of the world – muslims, christians, monotheists, polytheists, atheists – to join forces to a peaceful campaign against fundamentalism in the world. All types of fundamentalism, in all sectors of life, by anyone who we notice morbidly drawn to it.

We are a majority. We can do this. Let’s not give in to our inner cavemen – unless we wish to live in caves once again.
